CHESTERFIELD, MO (StLouisRestaurantReview) In July 2019, St. Louis Magazine described Tony’s K-Food as an “under-the-radar treasure.” I agree with their description and would like to expand on the man behind this “treasure.” We believe this restaurant deserves special attention because of the effort given by the owner to ensure that everything is perfect.
Tony Choe is a Korean immigrant who moved to the U.S. with his family when he was 15. He is a modern-day Korean Ironman, operating the kitchen alone and preparing, cooking, and packaging food for pickup and carryout for approximately 100 daily orders. Tony never rests and takes great pride in his operation.
His “treasure” is challenging to find because it is inside the East East Oriental Market, located at 13365 Olive Blvd, Chesterfield, Missouri. Tony’s restaurant is in the back corner to the right. After entering, the store is surrounded by freezers and coolers, and a small sign directs you to the restaurant area. However, feel free to shop around for your favorite Korean food and ingredients to take home. They have many items that are perfect for cooking Korean food at home.
They are in the Woodchase Plaza. Tony’s K-Food is in the East East Oriental Market, approximately 200 yards west of the Highway 141 and Olive Blvd intersection. It is an easy destination to reach regardless of where you might be driving from. It is well worth driving to experience this Korean cuisine.
Another impressive fact is its Health Inspection Score, which was 100% for the two previous inspections. We have visited this location multiple times and are more than impressed with the kitchen. It is the cleanest facility we have ever seen, and everything looks new. When Tony is not cooking, he cleans regardless of whether it needs it or not.
Korean food is based on rice, vegetables, seafood, and meat. Dairy is not commonly used in the traditional Korean diet. However, Korean food has become increasingly popular in the United States, along with Korean restaurants and markets.
