iTap to Close Delmar Loop Location November 15

iTap to Close Delmar Loop Location November 15

Posted on October 30, 2026 By Martin Smith

ST. LOUIS, MO – October 30, 2026 (StLouisRestaurantReview) International Tap House, the locally founded craft beer bar commonly known as iTap, will close its Delmar Loop location on November 15, 2026, ending approximately five years of business in one of the St. Louis region’s most recognizable dining and entertainment districts.

The establishment, located at 6217 Delmar Boulevard near Skinker Boulevard, announced the decision on Thursday, October 29. The company thanked customers for their support and encouraged them to visit before the final day of operation.

First Alert 4 confirmed the closing announcement Thursday evening, and Sauce Magazine published additional details Friday.

The closure applies specifically to the Delmar Loop establishment. International Tap House will continue operating its Soulard location at 1711 South Ninth Street in St. Louis.

The company has not publicly disclosed a reason for closing the Delmar Loop business.

The announcement marks the conclusion of a five-year presence in the neighborhood for a hospitality company founded in the St. Louis area more than 17 years ago.

International Tap House Confirms November 15 Closure

International Tap House announced the upcoming closure through a social media post on October 29.

According to Sauce Magazine, the company thanked customers for five years in the Delmar Loop, identified November 15 as its final operating day, and invited supporters to keep visiting its Soulard location.

First Alert 4 independently reported the announcement at 10:37 p.m. Central time on October 29.

Both reports confirmed the November 15 closing date and that International Tap House’s Soulard operation will continue.

The company did not identify a specific reason for the decision.

As of October 30, ownership has not publicly attributed the closure to financial losses, declining sales, lease negotiations, staffing difficulties, or neighborhood conditions.

Those circumstances can affect restaurant and bar operations, but no verified evidence shows that any of them caused this closure.

The company’s public announcement focused instead on thanking customers and encouraging them to visit before November 15.

For customers who have frequented the Delmar Loop location since its August 2021 opening, the remaining weeks offer a chance to return before the scheduled closing date.

International Tap House Was Founded in Chesterfield

International Tap House has been part of the St. Louis hospitality industry since February 2009.

According to the company’s official history, college friends Brad Lobdell and Sean Conroy founded the original International Tap House in Chesterfield, Missouri.

The business grew around a concept that emphasized craft beer selection, hospitality, and an environment where customers could explore beverages from numerous breweries.

Rather than producing its own beer, International Tap House focused on selecting and serving products from different producers.

This approach let customers try different brewing styles and discover beers from local, regional, national, and international breweries.

The company’s emphasis on beverage variety and customer service became central to its identity.

International Tap House expanded into Soulard in 2010, establishing a presence within the city of St. Louis.

The company subsequently operated a Central West End establishment, which later closed.

In August 2021, International Tap House opened its Delmar Loop location, bringing the concept to another prominent St. Louis neighborhood.

The company also expanded into other Missouri markets.

According to Sauce Magazine’s October 30 reporting, International Tap House operates establishments in Columbia and the Kansas City area.

The Delmar Loop closure therefore represents the end of one location rather than the discontinuation of the International Tap House business.

iTap Opened in the Delmar Loop in August 2021

International Tap House opened its Delmar Loop establishment in August 2021 within the Link in the Loop development.

The location near Delmar and Skinker boulevards placed the business close to restaurants, entertainment venues, retail establishments, and Washington University.

According to the company’s official Delmar webpage, the establishment was designed to serve customers visiting the neighborhood for entertainment, shopping, and social gatherings.

International Tap House promoted the location as a place where customers could enjoy a beverage before attending a show, stop while shopping, or meet friends.

The bar offered a broad selection of draft beers, bottled beverages, whiskey, cocktails, wine, and other drinks.

The establishment also included a semi-private gathering area intended for celebrations and social events.

International Tap House emphasized beverage selection rather than operating as a conventional full-service restaurant.

Its presence in the Link in the Loop development added another hospitality option to a neighborhood already known for its concentration of restaurants and entertainment businesses.

For the company, the August 2021 opening offered a chance to establish a presence in one of the region’s best-known entertainment districts.

Approximately five years later, the business has announced that the location will close.

A Business Model That Encourages Nearby Dining

One characteristic distinguishing International Tap House from conventional restaurants is its approach to food service.

The company does not operate a traditional full-service restaurant kitchen.

Instead, customers can bring food into its establishments or order meals from nearby restaurants.

International Tap House describes this policy on its official website, and Sauce Magazine confirmed the arrangement in its October 30 reporting.

The approach lets International Tap House focus on beverages while giving customers flexibility in choosing food.

Customers visiting the Delmar Loop establishment could enjoy drinks while purchasing meals from surrounding restaurants.

For groups, the arrangement offered an alternative to establishments where everyone orders from the same kitchen.

It also provided neighboring restaurants with opportunities to serve customers spending time at International Tap House.

The business model was particularly compatible with the Delmar Loop, where numerous restaurants operate near entertainment venues and shopping destinations.

International Tap House’s principal attraction remained its beverage selection.

Customers could explore different beer styles, cocktails, whiskey, wine, and other drinks while obtaining meals from surrounding businesses.

The arrangement illustrates how different hospitality establishments can complement one another within a commercial district.

The November closure will end that particular operation at the Delmar Boulevard address.

What the Closure Means for the Delmar Loop

The Delmar Loop is among the St. Louis metropolitan area’s most recognizable dining, shopping, and entertainment districts.

Its combination of restaurants, music venues, independent retailers, and cultural attractions makes it a destination for residents and visitors.

Customers often visit entertainment districts for multiple activities during a single outing.

Someone attending a concert may purchase dinner beforehand and stop for drinks afterward.

Visitors shopping in the neighborhood may also visit restaurants or other hospitality establishments.

International Tap House entered this environment in August 2021.

The establishment provided a gathering place where customers could enjoy beverages before or after visiting nearby businesses.

Its location near Delmar and Skinker gave customers access to nearby restaurants and entertainment destinations.

The announced closure will remove one craft beer-focused establishment from the neighborhood.

However, the departure of one business does not mean the entire Delmar Loop is experiencing economic decline.

The district still includes restaurants, entertainment venues, shops, and other establishments.

The owners have not identified neighborhood conditions as the reason for closing.

The announcement should therefore be understood as a confirmed business decision involving one locally founded hospitality establishment.

Craft Beer Remains Central to the iTap Concept

International Tap House was founded around the idea of offering customers an extensive selection of craft beer.

That concept has remained central to the company’s identity since its original Chesterfield establishment opened in 2009.

Unlike breweries that produce their own beer, International Tap House focuses on selecting and serving beverages from different producers.

This approach lets customers explore different brands, brewing styles, and products in one place.

International Tap House has also expanded its beverage offerings beyond traditional craft beer.

According to the company’s official website, its Delmar Loop establishment offered whiskey, cocktails, wine, and other alcoholic beverages in addition to its beer selection.

The company’s emphasis on beverage variety has been central to its business model.

For customers, the concept offers a chance to discover products from different producers without visiting multiple breweries or bars.

The Delmar Loop establishment followed this approach throughout its operation.

Although the craft beer industry has changed over time, International Tap House has not publicly attributed the Delmar Loop closure to declining beer demand or shifting consumer preferences.

Without confirmation from ownership, those factors cannot be identified as the reason for closing the establishment.

The confirmed development remains the company’s decision to close one location while maintaining its Soulard business.

Soulard Location Will Continue Operating

Customers who want to continue visiting International Tap House after November 15 can do so at the company’s Soulard establishment.

The location is at 1711 South Ninth Street in St. Louis.

According to the company’s official history, International Tap House expanded into Soulard in 2010.

The establishment continues the beverage-focused concept developed when the original business opened in Chesterfield.

Like the Delmar Loop location, Soulard emphasizes craft beer, other beverage selections, and a casual gathering environment.

The company’s October 29 announcement specifically encouraged Delmar Loop customers to visit Soulard after the closure.

This distinction matters because the announced closure concerns only the Delmar establishment.

International Tap House has not announced plans to close its Soulard location.

For customers who have supported the business over the years, Soulard will remain an opportunity to experience the company’s hospitality concept.

The continuation of that establishment also means International Tap House will retain a presence within the city of St. Louis.

The locally founded company will therefore remain part of the region’s restaurant and bar industry after November 15.

The Importance of Locally Founded Hospitality Businesses

International Tap House represents a business that began in the St. Louis region and developed a recognizable identity.

The company started in Chesterfield in February 2009 and subsequently expanded into other communities.

Its history illustrates how locally founded hospitality concepts can grow beyond their original locations.

Restaurants and bars contribute to neighborhood activity by providing gathering places, employment opportunities, and services for residents and visitors.

They also participate in the broader commercial environment through relationships with customers, suppliers, and neighboring businesses.

International Tap House’s practice of encouraging customers to purchase food from surrounding restaurants illustrates one way hospitality businesses can operate alongside one another.

For the Delmar Loop, the closure means losing an establishment that has served the neighborhood since August 2021.

For International Tap House, the decision marks the end of one location while its Soulard operation continues.

The announcement does not establish that the company is experiencing financial difficulties or that its broader business is in jeopardy.

The specific reason for the Delmar Loop closure remains undisclosed.

Customers who want to support the locally founded business can continue visiting its Soulard location.

Final Day Scheduled for November 15

International Tap House has announced November 15, 2026, as the final day of operation for its Delmar Loop establishment.

The location is at 6217 Delmar Boulevard in St. Louis.

Customers planning to visit before the closure should consult the company’s official website or social media accounts for updated hours and additional announcements.

After November 15, customers can continue visiting International Tap House at 1711 South Ninth Street in Soulard.

The closure concludes approximately five years of operation in a neighborhood where the company opened in August 2021.

For customers who have supported the Delmar Loop location, the remaining weeks offer a chance to visit before its final day.

For International Tap House, the decision closes one chapter in a business history that began in Chesterfield more than 17 years ago.

Although the Delmar Loop establishment is preparing to close, the company Brad Lobdell and Sean Conroy founded will remain part of the St. Louis hospitality industry through its continuing Soulard operation.

The Delmar Loop will lose a locally founded craft beer destination, but International Tap House will continue serving customers in St. Louis.
