Gioia’s Deli – Best Sandwich Shop in St. Louis

Gioia’s Deli is St. Louis, Missouri’s best sandwich shop or Quick Bite restaurant.  We have sufficient evidence to support this unprecedented claim.

ST. LOUIS, MO (StLouisRestaurantReview) I have driven by this historic landmark hundreds, if not thousands, of times over my life.  Browsing Wikipedia and finding their dedicated page shocked me.  How could I have missed something so famous?  Maybe I thought it was just another sandwich shop.  Nothing could be further from the truth.

We recently published an article about the Missouri Baking Company, just a few blocks from Gioia’s on The Hill.

This is more than another Italian restaurant on The Hill.   With the history that has made The Hill famous, Gioia’s Deli helped create that history while making its own one sandwich at a time.

It opened in 1918 but was sold to the Donley family in 1980.

Fazio’s Bakery supplies the fresh bread, while Volpi Salumeria supplies the cured meats.
