VALLEY PARK, MO (StLouisRestaurantReview) Summer is officially here, so it is time for BBQ. Less loyal BBQ fans eat it seasonally, but BBQ lovers eat it all year round. I am the latter of the two. It tastes as good to me in the winter as it does in the summer.
Succeeding in the BBQ restaurant business is challenging because food costs are higher. New operators may often have great BBQ but fail to price it correctly, lose money, and disappear as soon as they surface.
The restaurant group that owns Dalies Smokehouse also owns Pappy’s and Bogart’s. They are a first-class restaurant group that has proven they know how to succeed at the top three ingredients to survive in the restaurant business: great food, excellent service, and prices to keep customers while making money so they can stay in business to serve their fans another day.
Many factors go into creating a great BBQ. Those who figure it out are true BBQ Masters. However, the experts know how to make great BBQs and figure out the restaurant concept. Just because you produce a great product doesn’t mean you know how to operate a restaurant. It is an entirely different animal. This group of experts knows how to make the best BBQ and manage a successful restaurant that the community can rely on to be there day after day.
Craig Basler is the general manager of Dalie’s Smokehouse. Basler has managed this location since its opening.
The atmosphere is casual and has a country twist, but it hasn’t gone overboard. They operate the facility for volume. It is exciting and comfortable, and most of all, it is clean. The most recent inspection was May 24, 2024, and the health inspection report was given a 99%. Historically, it has consistently ranged between 97% and 99%.
