According to TripAdvisor, the Top-10 Local Eats Restaurants in St. Louis, Missouri, as of May 13, 2024.
ST. LOUIS, MO (StLouisRestaurantReview) We love investigating and publishing our Top-10 List of various types of restaurants, especially the Local Eats. The results are consistent, and changes are slow, primarily when many reviews are published.
We focus on customer reviews because what else matters besides the customers’ perspective? Our opinion doesn’t mean anything. We are not into writing glamour articles that might or might not be accurate. We focus on facts, and the best facts come from the customers.
Whether you like reviews or not, they are here to stay, and as more customers publish reviews, they become more reliable. The days of restaurant owners ignoring negative reviews because they think customers want something from the restaurant are over. If you own a restaurant and ignore customer reviews, the day will come when you have no customers and will be out of business.
Nonetheless, we love reading reviews and encouraging restaurant owners to read reviews with an open mind. We guarantee it will change your business by improving the operations.
Having written that customers need to be fair about their reviews. Writing a negative review because you wanted to order food after the restaurant has closed within regular business hours is NOT a legitimate reason. We will agree that “some” reviews are out of the ballpark, stupid, and self-serving. But for the majority of reviews, they are on target.
We recommend that consumers allow restaurants to correct a problem before publishing a negative review, especially for Local Eats.
Most will care about the issue and make it right. Making customers happy is their job, which is why it is considered a hospitality business. All of us are human, and mistakes happen. Don’t assume that one bad experience is how a restaurant does business daily. Just allow them to learn from their mistake and make it right.
Operating a restaurant is more challenging now than ever due to a lack of staffing and inflationary-related issues. There will be fewer restaurants in the future—we promise you that! Restaurants that will survive this social and economic change will be local restaurants that work hard to survive and to make their customers happy. Big chains will not survive, and many have already made plans to close or are closing now.
We offer these comments because this Top-10 List is about locals. These restaurants are locally owned and operated. They are our friends, neighbors, and family, and they are just trying to survive what has become an enormous challenge. Help them; don’t destroy them. Be a little empathetic to their situation.
The only two restaurants on the list with 5-Stars are Blues City Deli and Adriana’s on The Hill.
We recently published a review about Adriana’s on The Hill.
We love to see Charlie Gitto’s on any list. It is our favorite Italian restaurant in the city. The main thing I miss is Charlie’s presence.

Additionally, a restaurant review is in draft for them to review. The same management group operates Dalie’s, Pappy’s, and Bogarts. It is impressive to have three different restaurant brands competing with each other, and all of them are top-rated. Congratulations to the group! Dalie’s is our favorite for BBQ.
